Tutoring / Seminars
From time to time, Ken Webb tutors HSC students for Modern History and Extension History.
Tutoring is not for everyone, but it can be of benefit for the following sort of students:
- the real high flyer who is looking for an extra angle or a new approach to a topic he or she knows extremely well;
- the struggling student who is having difficulty coming to terms with ideas and concepts;
- the sort of student who is working hard, enjoys the subject but simply does not perform as well as he or she should in assessment tasks and examinations.
Tutoring is of no use for a student who has done little work or reading. Tutoring in History requires the student to have a factual base from which to work. In this it is different from a subject such as mathematics where a tutor can teach from scratch.
How to book tutoring
If students / parents are interested in having Ken Webb as a tutor , he can be contacted in any of the following ways:
- By e-mail: contact@kenwebb.com.au
- By post: PO Box 385 Epping, NSW 2121
He will see students in their home or at a location convenient to both him and the student, eg a public library.
Seminar Sessions
Small group seminar type-sessions can also be organised for students who prefer to work in a small group of two or three (maximum four). This type of intensive session can be of great value as students always gain when they have both a teacher and their peers off whom they can bounce ideas. Seminar sessions work only when each of the participating students come prepared, having done their class work and reading.
